Small rooms aren’t the problem — bad layouts are. We pulled together five floor plans that turn tight square footage into proper living space, with sofas that don’t crowd the door and storage that doesn’t shout for attention.
The most-loved layout: corner sofa + slim console
A corner sofa frees up traffic flow along the longest wall. Pair it with a wall-mounted TV and a 25 cm-deep console behind the sofa for lamps and remotes — keeps the centre of the room clear and the lighting soft.
Rugs that anchor the space
Avoid the postage-stamp rug under the coffee table — at minimum the front legs of every seat should touch the rug. It instantly makes a 3 m × 4 m room feel like 4 m × 5 m.
