Ground loop video isolator, also known as ground loop audio-video isolator, is mainly used to eliminate interference to CCTV video (or audio) signals caused by ground loop voltage. Ground loop/ground loop interference (GEI) is an electronic interference phenomenon caused by the different potential between the two ends of a video cable. The interference of ac current loop caused by different video signal reference ground potential is mainly found in the shielding layer of the video cable and the shell of the video equipment.
Under normal circumstances, the voltage of the shielding layer is 0V, and when the local loop/ground loop phenomenon exists, the level will fluctuate around 0V, and more seriously, the video signal will be seriously distorted and torn, accompanied by interference phenomena such as horizontal stria-reticule-snowflake. When the transmission distance of video signal is more than 100 meters, it is easy to generate high ground loop voltage. If the ground loop voltage is too high, the equipment may even be burned down.
